This project is an infill with occupied
patient rooms directly above and below. Plumbing, design,
and construction required close coordination to minimize
shutdowns of occupied patient rooms above and below.
The HVAC system included expansion of the chilled water
piping system to allow for this infill and future additions
to the chilled water plant.
The HVAC design accommodated changes
in the program and the life safety code subsequent
to the construction of the building shell. Space limitations
imposed by existing floor-to-floor height as well as
occupied floors above and below were significant design
challenges.
The infill area includes a negative pressure
isolation room, a nursing station and thirteen patient
rooms, each complete with toilet, sink, and shower.
Axiom’s services also included medical gas systems,
fire protection, construction administration, and commissioning.
